JC Anderson Memorial Golf Tournament

The Annual JC Anderson Memorial Golf Tournament Raised $110,000 for Easter Seals Alberta

September 20, 2021 – CENTURY 21 Foothills Real Estate hosted the JC Anderson Memorial Golf Tournament in Foothills, AB. This annual event proved to be another successful fundraiser, raising $110,000 for Easter Seals Alberta, helping many children living with disabilities and medical conditions.

The 78 golfers started the day at the Sirocco Golf and Country Club, a local course with unique challenges and unparalleled beauty that winds its way through the Pine Creek Valley. After the tournament, the golfers, family, friends, and supporters enjoyed dinner and an auction hosted by Tiffany Gordon, daughter of CENTURY 21 Foothills Real Estate owner and manager, Blair and Beverly Gordon. Tiffany is a CPGA golf professional and was very instrumental in the success of this event.

The JC Anderson Memorial Golf Tournament was founded in support of the late JC’s vision to ensure kids with disabilities had a place to play and belong, no matter what their diagnosis. This annual fundraiser provides an opportunity for them to attend Easter Seals Camp Horizon, a one-of-a-kind magical place that empowers them to reach their full potential. “Even though the camp is not open for the second year in a row because of COVID-19, we managed to raise awareness for this important cause and attract people that gave generously,” says Blair.

CENTURY 21 Foothills has been a big supporter of Easter Seals Alberta over the years. Their numerous successful fundraising events and the majority of their over 50 agents across six offices in the Foothills area donating $21 per deal, earned them the #2 C21 Easter Seals fundraising company in 2019.

Clifford & Louise Lougheed Award 2021

High River District Health Care Foundation Presents the 2020 Clifford and Louise Lougheed Award January 28, 2021

For the past twenty-four years the High River District Health Care Foundation has presented the Clifford and Louise Lougheed Award in recognition of the outstanding contributions by an individual or organization in support of the Foundation and health care in our communities.

What normally would be presented in front of a sold out crowd at the Foundation’s Dinner and Auction, was awarded today in a much more intimate setting to Bev & Blair Gordon by Foundation’s Executive Director, Michael Brown.

“Bev and Blair Gordon are truly philanthropic leaders in our communities. They are so deserving of receiving this year’s Clifford and Louise Lougheed award from the Foundation.

Bev and Blair inspire all of us to do better and to do more. Their leadership at Century 21 Foothills, their family, everyone who knows them - we are all inspired by how much they care about the communities they serve.

The Foundation is so grateful to have their support. Through Century 21 Foothills, they have been long-time sponsors of out Dinner and Auction. They were first in line last fall to sponsor the Drive-in Concert and have been stalwart supporters of our Covid 19 Community Response Campaign and our Operation Healthcare Heroes. We can’t thank them enough.” stated Brown.

This Award was named in honor of Clifford and Louise Lougheed who were long-time residents of the Nanton area.  Their bequest to the Foundation enabled us to establish a permanent Endowment Fund which is the backbone of our long term financial viability.  So it is in the spirit of Clifford and Louise’s generosity, that we present our award in their name every year.

“Bev and I are truly humbled and blessed as we accept the Clifford and Louise Lougheed Award on behalf of the Gordon family and associates of Century 21 Foothills. Thank you to our Foothills communities for their support of the High River District Health Care Foundation. ‘Together we can make a difference’.” said Blair Gordon following the surprise presentation.

Rowan House Donor Letter January 24, 2022

Dear Century 21 Foothills Real Estate,
Thank you for choosing to support hope and healing in the Foothills with your generous donation. This act of kindness
helps our services reach thousands of people every year and contributes to establishing an environment for survivors of
abuse to begin their journey to recovery. Your donation truly does create change for the women and children that
depend on Rowan House, like Abigail.
Abigail and her two children courageously came into shelter after she had been purposefully isolated and removed from
society by her husband, who controlled her every move for over 5 years. After a couple of weeks in shelter, working with
our Shelter Support Workers, Abigail started to feel more relaxed and began making her way back out into the world.
The simple task of going to purchase groceries for her family was overwhelmingly freeing. Abigail was able to leave the
shelter feeling empowered and more prepared to take charge of her own future; she bought her own vehicle and
ultimately was able to tell her husband that she was not returning to the relationship.
"Only now that I have spent a few weeks at Rowan House, away from the madness, do I see my abuser’s manipulative
behavior. The isolation I experienced, and the domestic abuse crept up on me silently and at the time, I thought I was
making up my own mind. I honestly did not see that isolation was part of a very sophisticated plan on my abuser’s part to
control and abuse me." - Abigail
Without the dedicated support from donors like you, we would not be able to work towards ending the cycle of abuse
through our preventative education, outreach, in-shelter, and children’s programs. Every dollar helps women and
children, like Abigail and her kids, rediscover their self-esteem, learn to set personal boundaries, and make choices that
condone healthy relationships.
Stopping the cycle of domestic abuse is not an easy goal, but support from people like you inspire us to keep striving;
every dollar encourages us to persevere. We are deeply grateful that you chose to help us to achieve our vision that we
all thrive in safe and empowering relationships.
Sincerely,
Kelly Smit
